蒔絵の実用的な本は漆芸の塗りや拭き漆を説明した本に比べて格段に少ないです。ほとんどの蒔絵と題名のある本は、作品の写真などが綺麗に載っているだけで、そこまで細かくやり方などは説明はありません。
There are far fewer practical books about Maki-e than books that explain lacquering and Fuki-urushi. Most books with lacquer work and titles only have beautiful pictures of the work, and there is no detailed explanation on how to do it.

全て蒔絵専門というわけではないですが、漆芸の基礎知識に加えて、実用的なやり方も載っている本です。蒔絵の文化財に関して、技法の紹介も含めて材料や推定できる製作工程もとても細かく載っています。数ある漆工芸の本の中でも１番参考にしている本です。この一冊に漆芸の知識が凝縮されています。
Not all of them specialize in “Maki-e”, but in addition to the basic knowledge of lacquering, this book also contains practical methods. Regarding the cultural properties of Maki-e work, the materials and the estimation process, including the introduction of techniques, are described in great detail. Of the many books on lacquering crafts, this is the one I refer to most. Knowledge of lacquering is condensed in this book.

25年前の当時の定価は￥3600+税の本ですが、最近だと古本でも高くなっています。しかし、当時定価以上の情報量かと思います。オススメの一冊です。

この本も漆芸全般の本ではありますが、蒔絵の工程の説明がしっかりあります。出版年が３５年前の古い本です。写真も白黒で、文章も多いです。図などの説明はないです。しかし、各工程を丁寧にしっかり文章にして説明してあります。
This book is also a book on lacquering in general, but it has a good explanation of the lacquering process. It’s a 35-year-old book and it’s old. The photos are black and white, and there are many sentences. There is no explanation such as a fragment diagram. However, each process is explained in detail.
文章の中では、コツや注意することなど詳細に書き記してあります。実際にやる人にとってはとても有益な情報が詰まった本かと思います。私も何度も読み返している本です。学校でも一通りは習っていて、ノートにもまとめていました。忘れていることや抜けていることがないかこの本でも読み返して何度も確認しています。
In the text, details such as tips and precautions are written. I think this book is full of useful information for those who actually do it. This is a book that I have read over and over again. I also learned Maki-e work at school and put it together in my notebook. I read this book again and again to see if I have forgotten or missed anything in my class at school.
こちらの本と、蒔絵の人間国宝であった松田権六さんの「うるしの話」の２冊は特に何度も読み返しています。この本の著者の佐々木さんは松田権六さんを師事した方でもあります。
I have read this book and the two books, “The Story of Urushi,” by Gonroku Matsuda, a living national treasure of lacquer work, especially many times.The author of this book, Mr. Sasaki, also studied under Mr. Gonroku Matsuda.

この本はダニトリオというアメリカの蒔絵万年筆メーカーのコレクターや愛好家向けの本です。今まで制作された蒔絵万年筆の蒔絵の工程が、断面図含めて、工程の順番、使っている蒔絵粉の号数までとても詳細に載っています。そして携わられた蒔絵師の方々も紹介されています。ただ個人出版本なので、販売されているお店が少ないのかもしれません。私はダニトリオを扱っている文具店で購入しました。

この本は日本の万年筆に特化した本ですが、そのほとんどが漆塗り・蒔絵のものです。様々な蒔絵万年筆が載っています。実用的な技法に関しても、著者のパーカーのペンのセルフオーダーの蒔絵の制作の際の工程が写真と共に少し載っています。全てを詳細に説明しているわけではないですが、とても参考になります。
This book is specialized for Japanese fountain pens, but most of them are lacquered and Maki-e. Various lacquer fountain pens are listed.
