最近、簡易金継ぎが流行っているようなので、漆に加えて代用金粉というものが多く金継ぎ向けとして紹介されています。

しかし、本当の金粉は、もちろん純金です。代用金粉を区別する為にも、純金のものは「本金」「純金」と表示されています。そして、本金と代用金粉では側から見ても輝きは違います。そして使い方も限られてきますので、少しこちらでまとめてみたいと思います。

代用粉とは？What is a substitute powder?
代用粉とは、金・銀・プラチナ・錫以外の銅・真鍮・アルミあるいはその合金による製粉を指します。

真鍮粉 Brass powder
金色の代用粉は各メーカーや金粉屋さんで出ています。一番多いのは、真鍮を使用したものかと思います。ちゃんと「代用」という品目があればいいのですが、金粉とだけ書いてある場合もあります。同じ真鍮粉でも真鍮粉という言葉が品目にないものが多いです。
Gold substitute powder is available from each manufacturer and gold powder shop. I think the most common one is brass. It would be nice if there was an item called “substitute” properly, but in some cases it is just written as gold powder. Many of the same brass powders do not have the word brass powder on the item label.
漆屋さんや金粉屋さんでは、必ずはっきり区別しています。しかし、現在では色々なところで金継ぎセットという商品が出ています。簡易金継ぎなどで使われている金粉と呼ばれるものはほとんどが真鍮粉かと思います。
At lacquer shops and gold powder shops, we always make a clear distinction. However, nowadays, there are products called Kintsugi sets in various places. I think most of the gold powder used in simple kintsugi is brass powder.
Amazonで金粉と検索しても、品目に「金粉」とあるので純金と代用が混ざって出てきます。

間違いやすいので、必ず主成分をご確認ください。また真鍮粉の場合、大体１０g あたり５００円〜７００円前後のものが多いです。純金粉だと１g あたり1万円以上はするので、gと価格をよく見て、確認する必要があります。
Be sure to check the main components as it is easy to make a mistake. In the case of brass powder, it is usually around 500 to 700 yen per 10g. Pure gold powder costs 10,000 yen or more per gram, so you need to carefully look at g and the price to confirm.

エルジー粉 Elsie powder
エルジー粉と言われるメタリックパウダーも代用粉として使用されています。

この粉は、アルミ粉とも言われますが、色自体は金属の色ではないです。

アルミニウムの両側にある樹脂の層を顔料で着色することによって色を出しています。蒔絵体験などでは蒔いて使っているところも多いですが、塗料と練りこんで家電や、自動車、建材、化粧品など様々な場面でも使用されています。

また「近代蒔絵」と称している製品にはこのエルジー粉がよく使われています。

このエルジー粉に関しては、Amazonなどでは販売はしていないようです。漆屋さんで販売しています。金粉よりはもちろん安価ではありますが、真鍮粉や雲母金粉よりは若干高いです。

雲母とはケイ酸塩鉱物の一種で、これをコーティングすることによって色を出します。

使い方の違い Difference in usage
代用金粉は、金属の比重や、粉の性質上、本金粉のように研いだり磨いたりできないです。
Due to the specific gravity of the metal and the nature of the powder, the substitute gold powder cannot be sharpened or polished like the real gold powder.

現在、世の中で購入できる代用金粉の多くが、蒔絵以外の分野で多く活用されています。本金丸粉は金粉屋さんが、蒔絵のためだけに作っている粉ですので、やはり高くなります。その分蒔絵の表現を最大限に引き出してくれる材料だと思います。本金粉については過去の投稿でも取り上げていますのでご参照ください。

代用金粉に代用漆で金継ぎをすると、完璧なフェイク金継ぎになります。革が本革ではなく合皮やフェイクレザーの場合は、何年かするとダメになってしまうように、金継ぎの場合も同じように漆よりは耐性はかなり劣るかと思います。

最近では金継ぎセットなど色々なセットが出ていますが、値段が安いものはやはりフェイク金継ぎセットです。また注意していただきたいのが、「合成うるし」「新うるし」と呼ばれるものは「食器等の口に含む恐れのあるものには塗装しないでください」と小さく注意書きがあります。金継ぎに使用する程度では問題ないとして、出回ってはいます。どう判断されるかは個々人次第です。需要がある以上、商品として成立しているかと思います。しかし、私の意見としては、「合成うるし」や「新うるし」で金継ぎすることは全くオススメしません。安全面からも天然漆をお勧めします。
