昨日、やっと作業部屋のリフォームが完了しました。
Yesterday, the remodeling of the work room was finally completed.
父の部屋を作業部屋にしようとしたのですが、タバコのヤニがひどく、壁紙がだいぶ黄ばんでいたので新しく白く張り替えていただきました。そしてカーテンだった窓を今回もアルミブラインドにしました。実は、前の作業部屋にワンルームを借りていたのですが、たまたまアルミブラインドで埃が立ちにくいなと思い、またアルミブラインドにしました。
I tried to make my father’s room a work room, but the cigarette tar was terrible and the wallpaper was quite yellow, so I had him replace it with a new white one. And the window that was a curtain was changed to an aluminum blind this time as well. Actually, I rented a studio in the previous work room, but I happened to use aluminum blinds because I thought it would be difficult for dust to stand up, so I decided to use aluminum blinds again.
作業環境の一番の重点課題は、 埃を出さない空間にすることです。
The most important issue in the working environment is to create a dust-free space.
学生の時に、家に持って帰って作業していたのですが、そうすると学校の作業部屋よりも塵・埃が気になりました。基本的には蒔絵の作業は他の工芸ほど、場所を選ばずできます。しかし、やはり最大の問題は塵・埃です。
When I was a student, I took it home to work, but then I was more concerned about dust than in the school work room. Basically, lacquer work can be done anywhere as much as other crafts. However, the biggest problem is dust.
学生の時は、致し方なかったのですが、やはりその時の原因は以下のものだったと思います。
When I was a student, I couldn’t help it, but I think the cause of the dust at that time was as follows.
- 寝具 bedding
- カーテン curtain
- カーペット carpet
これらのものが少し動いただけで、肉眼では見えないくらいの塵や埃が舞います。その塵の中でも大きいものだと仕上がりに大きく影響します。特にカーテンは布製のものだと細かい埃も出やすいです。ワンルームだと湿度は上がりやすいので、乾きはいいのですが、塗りの作業には向かないようでした。結局、研ぎなどの作業向きだという結論に至り、上塗りは学校でやっていました。
Even if these things move a little, dust and dirt that cannot be seen with the naked eye will fly. If it is the largest of the dust, it will greatly affect the finish. Especially if the curtain is made of cloth, fine dust is likely to come out. Humidity tends to rise in one room, so it’s good to dry, but it didn’t seem to be suitable for painting work. In the end, I came to the conclusion that one room was suitable for work such as sharpening, and I did the topcoat at school.
しかし、学校でも塵埃は気になって、先生にもよく相談しました。
However, I was worried about dust at school, so I often consulted with my teacher.
塗りの時の埃の対策としては。。。
- 塗り前はとにかく掃除
- 作業台の周りをよく雑巾で水拭きする
- 作業台の周りを湿した新聞紙を敷いておく
- 塗りをする時の服は、なるべく埃の舞にくい服を着る
- あまり動かない、余計な動きをしない
- 息もあんまりしない
- 手早く塗る
- 塗ったらすぐに漆室へ入れる
As a measure against dust when painting. .. ..
- Clean before painting
- Wipe the area around the workbench with a rag.
- Spread a damp newspaper around the workbench
- Wear clothes that are as dust-resistant as possible when painting.
- Doesn’t move much, doesn’t move extra
- Don’t breathe too much
- Paint quickly
- Immediately after painting, put it in the Urushi-Muro
。。。という感じですごく原始的に色々と試しています。
.. .. .. I’m trying various things very primitively.
それだけ「上塗り」は結構神経質な作業です。
That’s how “topcoating” is a rather nervous task.
そして、壁紙も白にしたので、光が反射してよりはっきり見えるようになったのではないかと、作業するのが楽しみです。あとは、大量の本たちと道具と机を運び入れるだけです。
I also made the wallpaper white, so I’m looking forward to working on it, thinking that the light will be reflected and it will be more clearly visible. All I have to do now is bring in a bunch of books, tools and desks.
漆工芸は特にやっている人口も少ないので、専門的に大量生産された道具や設備というものがありません。道具も材料も、それを作る熟練の職人さんあっての仕事です。道具は、時に自作であったり、先輩方にありがたくいただいたりそれぞれです。
Since the population of lacquering crafts is particularly small, there are no specialized mass-produced tools or equipment. Both tools and materials are the work of a skilled craftsman who makes them. Sometimes I make my own tools, and sometimes I get them from my seniors.
自分で作っていくという面では試行錯誤しながらで、全てが自分次第で面白いです。ホームセンターやどこに行くにも何か使えるものはないかと探しています。正解はなく、自分が使いやすければそれでいいのです。ある意味、一種の自己投資です。
In terms of making it myself, it’s all about trial and error, and it’s all interesting to me. I’m looking for something that can be used at home improvement stores and wherever I go. There is no correct answer, and if it is easy for you to use, that’s fine. In a sense, it’s a kind of self-investment.
蒔絵は第一に楽しく、緊張もあり、地道な作業の繰り返しで難しくもあります。
Maki-e is fun, tense, and difficult due to repeated steady work.
そんなこんなでまた明日、頑張っていかなければなと思います。
I think I have to do my best tomorrow.
